How to Create a Crown Braid with Hair Extensions

Hey, Dames!

Are you one of those dames that can braid on other people but can’t braid your own hair to save your life? Well, we have a really cool way to braid your extension halo piece and incorporate it into a style as a crown braid. Check out the video below and give it a shot!  Tag me in your final look @TheHairDame.

Step 1: Braid the Secret Extension hair piece. You can use your HairClutch as a styling assistant, it holds the hair into place so your best friend doesn’t have to.

Step 2: Gather your hair into a low bun and pin into place. Having little hairs stick out is ok, it adds texture.

Step 3) Put on the braided hair piece like a headband and fold the braid over the seam of the hair piece. Pin it into place.

Step 4) Remove some hairs around your face to soften the look. Hairspray to finish.

The New Year’s Eve Hair You Will Want for Yourself

Hey, Dames!

NYE 2016-2017! Is everyone ready? Glitter and gold all picked out and ready to go?

New Years Eve is the holiday party where we get to dress up and be our most glamorous selves, if we wish. I personally love a good gold-sequined number. This hairstyle is perfect to go with any dressy number, whether glittery and gold or the perfect little black dress. It’s also very easy to accomplish! It’s all in how you set your hair. Whether you are using hot rollers or a curling iron and pins, it’s a look that all of us can accomplish with a little instruction.

glam waves hairstyle

Step 1: You want your hair clean and dry. Put in 2 Secret Extensions by The Hair Dame or 3 depending on how short your natural hair is and how voluminous you want your end result to be.

Step 2: Create a deep side part in your hair and set your hair in rollers in a horizontal position going down the sides towards your ear. This is the most important — how you lay your set will determine the wave pattern you get. I would suggest about a 1 1/2″ barrel if you’re using a curling iron and a medium size roller if you’re using hot rollers. For the back use large size rollers in big sections, we just want to smooth out the back creating unity with the hair extensions. If you have textured hair, you might want to run a flat iron through it first to make it smoother for a glossy finished look.

Step 3: Once the set is cooled, take everything down and, using your Mason Pearson brush, brush out all the curs and waves. Keep your deep side part in place, run a little grooming cream through your hair for shine, and voila! She’s a sophisticated chic Dame ready to walk into 2017.

Always make sure to store your hair extension pieces in your HairClutch. It will extend the life of your hair pieces by keeping them safe for travel, and a home to sleep in. It also acts as a styling assistant.

How to Create a Red Carpet Ponytail with Hair Extensions

Hey, Dames!

Hoping that everyone had a wonderful Christmas and Hanukkah.  We’re in the final week of what a lot of people are calling a tough year, so it’s with no surprise that this last week might also meet us with some challenges.  Personally, I know my time management skills will be challenged with all the traveling, partying and family events.  One way that I can save major time is in the hair and makeup or, shall I say, “getting ready” department.

Dry shampoo, extensions and mascara are my beauty secrets for this busy time of year.  As long as you use your HairClutch to keep your hair extensions organized this look will not take up much room in a suitcase and won’t make you late.  If you need a party look that won’t take away from the BIG look of New Years Eve, this simple glam ponytail is perfect!

Thank you Katie Welch (@imthekatie) for lending us your stunning looks for this shoot.  Keep in mind Katie has shoulder length hair but you would never know it with these natural Secret Extensions.  The color matches perfectly and the fullness of them does not overwhelm her face.

Check out these steps below to recreate this glamorous ponytail with Secret Extensions by The Hair Dame .

glam ponytail with extensions

Step 1: Put on your Secret extensions like a headband, removing the hair around your hairline and combing out the top of your hair from under the invisible band.

Step 2: Gather all your hair into a ponytail. This part could be tricky, but take your time and gather all your hair above the hair pieces and smooth it out as you go.

Step 3: Take big sections of the hair in the pony and wrap it around a curling iron, leaving the ends out. Back-comb the waves from underneath; this will fill out the ponytail and create the glamorous effect of thick waves.

Step 4: Wrap a little hair around the rubber band for a finished look.

Quick tip: If you want to rid of all the fly-aways and bumps, spray hairspray on a tooth brush and brush them down.

Hope everyone loves and styles this look with ease. Remember to take a selfie and tag us on IG.

**Remember to always store your hair extensions in a HairClutch to give them a longer lasting life and a home to sleep in.

Romantic Braids for Under the Mistletoe

Hi, Dames! Don’t we all feel a little romance in the braid department? Like having a braid makes us feel a little more on the romantic side of life? Well, sometimes a short haircut can make our braids (and our romance) fall short, so we decided to show you a braid style with hair extensions that you can do following these instructions below. Don’t get intimidated, the technique we show you below allows for you to replicate this with as much ease as possible and adds a cute flair (the rubber bands in between). You can replace the black rubber bands with sparkle bands, or bands with an ornament. So Check out the steps below and try it at home!

fishtail braids

Step 1: Put on your hair extensions. We love www.secretextensionsbythehairdame.com.

Step 2: Tease the crown area a little bit for volume and start your fishtail braid. When your just above the ear level tie off with a rubber band.

Step 3-:Start braiding the next section. a fish tail is two strands crossing over an end piece into the next section. The thinner the end piece the more scaley they braid.  The hair extensions allow for short hair to cross over. If a piece falls out stick it under a long piece and it will stay in. Using rubberbands in between keeps the short hair in the braid and adds a cute flair. Tie off the second rubber band as far down as your hair needs support to stay in the braid.

Step 4- Continue braid down to the finish. You can pull apart the braid a little in each section to widen and add some drama to the fish tail. Loosen some hair around your face and… voila! A super romantic braid! Just add some red lipstick and you are ready for your party, Dame!

***Make sure to always store your hair extensions in a HairClutch to keep them safe and to travel in style. They also work as an awesome hair styling assistant, holding your precious locks as you curl or straighten them. (www.hairclutch.com)

Make sure to tag us on IG with your romantic braid, we will repost our faves!
